As the Cincinnati Bengals shift their focus to the 2024 season, head coach Zac Taylor addressed the media on Monday, providing a glimpse of their future plans. Despite a season marked by defensive struggles, inconsistent offensive line performances, and contentious play calls, some have called for the removal of assistant coaches and even for Taylor’s dismissal.

However, Taylor’s position seems secure. He affirmed that he won’t be leaving the team. Regarding the assistant coaches, Taylor indicated his intention for them to remain onboard for the upcoming season, with the expectation that the entire staff will return in 2024 unless an external promotion alters the situation.

Defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo was a sought-after candidate for head-coaching positions last year, but it remains to be seen if the Bengals’ defensive challenges this season will affect his prospects this time around. Similarly, offensive coordinator Brian Callahan was in contention for a head coaching role last winter but remained with the Bengals after the Indianapolis Colts hired another candidate.

Despite facing challenges, including a significant period without their key quarterback Joe Burrow at full strength, Callahan’s contribution to engineering nine wins might attract interest from other teams seeking an offensive coordinator.

Quarterbacks coach Dan Pitcher had an interview with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for their offensive coordinator position before returning to Cincinnati with an increased salary, making him a potential candidate to watch this winter.

While criticism has targeted offensive line coach Frank Pollack this season, Taylor seems inclined to keep him on the staff. Pollack appeared to be the only assistant whose position was uncertain, but it seems he’s staying, at least for now.

Is retaining the entire staff the best decision for the Bengals? Share your thoughts in the comments!
