Former women’s World No. 1, Justine Henin, recently commented on Novak Djokovic’s subdued performance in the semifinal loss to Jannik Sinner at the Australian Open. Djokovic faced his first defeat in 11 matches in the Australian Open semifinals, with Sinner dominating the match to secure a 6-1, 6-2, 6-7, 6-3 victory.

This loss halted Djokovic’s quest for an 11th Australian Open title, which would have tied the men’s record and matched Margaret Court’s 11 titles in 1973. Henin expressed surprise at the lack of reaction from the 36-year-old Serbian player after the defeat.

Throughout his career, Djokovic has been known for his remarkable comebacks and ability to secure victories from losing positions. However, in this particular match, he could only salvage his pride by winning the third set.

Notably, it was the first completed Grand Slam match in Djokovic’s career where he failed to create a single break point. Henin agreed with Djokovic’s post-match assessment, where he described the defeat as “one of the worst” Grand Slam matches in his career.

Henin acknowledged Djokovic’s usual resilience and ability to bounce back, which he demonstrated in previous rounds of the tournament. However, she expressed surprise at the lack of reaction from Djokovic during this particular match.

Despite recognizing Sinner’s impressive performance, Henin highlighted Djokovic’s numerous unforced errors, slowness, and his unexpected inability to react. Djokovic himself acknowledged these factors, emphasizing that it was indeed one of his worst Grand Slam matches.
