If the Chicago Bears opt to select a rookie quarterback in the 2024 draft, their acquisition of DJ Moore through last year’s trade could be viewed as a beneficial move for the newcomer. There is speculation on whether they would extend another favor, especially if the cap-constrained Buffalo Bills are considering trading Stefon Diggs.

Bleacher Report’s Maurice Moton has suggested this scenario for the Bears during the 2024 offseason, particularly after Diggs hinted at uncertainty regarding his future with the Bills during the 2024 Pro Bowl Game. Diggs expressed readiness for whatever direction his future takes with the Bills, creating speculation about his potential departure.

Despite being one of Buffalo’s key offensive players, the team faces financial challenges with a $51.2 million salary-cap deficit that needs resolution before the 2024 league year begins on March 13. Moton proposes that if the Bills decide to part ways with Diggs due to his contract, the Bears could be a viable destination.

His proposed trade involves the Bears sending their less favorable first-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft, currently the No. 9 overall selection, to the Bills in exchange for Diggs.

“On February 5, Moton suggested that Chicago should explore the possibility of trading down with a team in need of a quarterback, aiming to secure additional draft capital instead of surrendering a top-10 pick for a 30-year-old wide receiver in a straightforward deal,” Moton stated.

“Alternatively, if this is not feasible, the Bears could negotiate for a middle-round pick in addition to Diggs, providing an extra resource to address their draft needs following the conclusion of free agency.”
