Will Anderson Jr. contributes to the prestigious legacy of Alabama Football by becoming the third player in the program’s history to clinch the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. He joins Head Coach DeMeco Ryans and Derrick Thomas as the exclusive recipients of this honor within the program’s annals.

The accolade is a fitting recognition for a player who epitomized the essence of Alabama Football. Additionally, it adds to Anderson’s impressive rookie season, during which he also received Pro Bowl honors and was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.

Despite grappling with injuries throughout the season, including a notable ankle injury that sidelined him for a period, Anderson showcased his prowess by tallying seven sacks and 29 tackles in the regular season, along with a sack and four tackles in the postseason. The Texans made a bold move by trading up to acquire Anderson, and thus far, it has proven to be a fruitful decision, with Anderson emerging as a pivotal component of their team.

Looking ahead to 2024, Anderson aims to elevate his performance to reach double-digit sack levels, solidifying his status as one of the league’s premier edge rushers. With his exceptional talent and commendable work ethic demonstrated during his time at Alabama, Anderson’s potential appears boundless, indicating that he is only just beginning to tap into his capabilities.
