The Houston Texans have experienced a remarkable season, achieving unexpected success with quarterback CJ Stroud and standout rookies Will Anderson Jr, Tank Dell, and Juice Scruggs. Despite initially being considered a rebuilding year, the Texans not only secured victory in the AFC South but also advanced to the Divisional round of the playoffs. This unexpected performance has solidified Houston as a formidable presence in the AFC.

Looking ahead, the team possesses a promising future with a talented quarterback and a burgeoning core of young players. Remarkably, the Texans enter the offseason with the fifth-highest cap space, providing them with ample resources to strengthen their roster. This places Houston in a favorable position to emerge as one of the premier teams in the NFL for the years to come.

Nevertheless, there’s a downside to the Texans’ recent successes, particularly in January, as it pertains to the coaching staff. Two standout offensive coaching figures, Bobby Slowik, the offensive coordinator, and Jerrod Johnson, the quarterbacks coach, have garnered significant attention.

Slowik has emerged as a top candidate for the head coaching positions with both the Washington Commanders and the Seattle Seahawks. It appears likely that he will secure one of these roles, especially after Detroit Lions OC Ben Johnson opted to stay with his current team for another year.

On the other hand, Jerrod Johnson has actively interviewed for vacant offensive coordinator positions with both the New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is currently a finalist and the frontrunner for the Saints’ job, particularly noteworthy since he is the only coach scheduled for a second interview after the Rams’ Zac Robinson was hired by the rival Falcons.
