Nico Collins provides Texans fans with an update regarding his contract extension.

Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins has extended an invitation to the team to explore the possibility of initiating discussions regarding a contract extension.

The 24-year-old Alabama native had a breakthrough season in 2023-24, achieving career highs with 1297 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.

Collins emerged as a standout performer for the Texans, with his connection with rookie CJ Stroud standing out as one of the highlights of the 2023-24 NFL season.

Having been drafted in 2021, Collins heads into the 2024 season in the final year of his rookie contract, making him eligible for a potential extension. When questioned about the prospect of a new deal, Collins expressed enthusiasm, stating to local media, “Oh man, I would love that. That would be great. I feel like that’s what everybody works for. I’m just going to let it come to me, whatever they decide, whatever they want to do. I’m going to let it ride. I’m going to continue to get better and work on my game. If they want to negotiate, we can.”

Collins also conveyed his excitement for the upcoming season, affirming, “Time to reload and pick up where we left off. It’s definitely a blessing and a great team to be around. I think it’s time. Can’t wait to get everybody back. We’re on a mission. It’s real. It is. We can’t wait to be back where we left off.”

Collins embodies the quintessential NFL wide receiver prototype, possessing the height, size, and speed highly sought after by teams. As wide receiver contracts are expected to soar, Collins stands to gain from a potentially lucrative deal.

Notably, Collins has earned the endorsement of his quarterback. CJ Stroud remarked, “I told him the first time we ever worked out together, ‘You’re a superstar.’ I hadn’t even taken a snap in the league, but I can recognize good receivers. I’ve played with teams that had exceptional receivers. I’m incredibly proud of him. It’s just the start of his journey.”
