SAN DIEGO, CA — The San Diego Padres disclosed plans on Thursday for a commemorative event honoring the late chairman and owner Peter Seidler.

The public gathering is set to take place at 1 p.m. on March 23 at Petco Park, with Padres broadcaster Don Orsillo designated as the Master of Ceremonies.

A lineup of current and former Padres players, team and league executives, local officials, and family members is slated to participate in the event.

Fan admission will be free, though digital tickets will be required, and they can be claimed starting Feb. 29. Gates will open at noon, and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Free parking will also be available in adjacent Padres-controlled lots, including the Lexus Premier Lot, Tailgate Lot, and Padres Parkade.

The Padres have also provided additional details regarding the jersey patch commemorating Seidler, which players will wear throughout the 2024 season.

The patch will showcase Seidler’s initials, “PS,” enclosed within a heart, with the concept originating from Seidler’s children, as per the team’s statement. These patches will be prominently displayed over the hearts of this season’s Padres jerseys.

The first 10,000 fans attending the celebration of life event will receive a complimentary jersey patch. Additionally, the patch will be available for purchase at the Padres Team Store at Petco Park, with proceeds going towards the Padres Foundation and the newly established Peter Seidler Legacy Projects.
